7 Healthier Snacks for Busy Moms

As a working mom, I know how busy we are and that our health can often be put on the back burner. One thing I hear from women is how busy they are which makes it really difficult to eat healthily. Guess what? It's true!! We're so busy because we are multi-taskers who take on so much responsibility and that can make for super hectic days. But don't fall into the trap that you CAN'T take care of yourself because of it. In fact, if you are super busy, you need to take even better care of yourself to keep your energy going.

One of the best ways to do this is to plan ahead. When you run to the grocery store, don't buy Chips Ahoy (at least not every trip).

Here's a list of things I grab so that when I'm on the go during the week, grabbing a healthy snack is easy, and I often throw them in my kiddo's lunch, too.

Hardboiled eggs (in moderation)

When I remember to buy extra eggs, or if I'm worried they're going to expire before I use them, I throw about six in a boiling pot of water. They stay in the fridge just fine and all my boys like to eat them as a quick breakfast.

Nuts (also in moderation)

The commissary (grocery store on a military base) has smaller bags of these for about $1 or I can get a big bag and then put them in small ziplock bags for an easy on-the-run snack.

Peanut butter on the go

I don't actually know what these are called but in the same aisle of regular peanut butter, you can grab six mini cups. I like to eat peanut butter with apples.

Nutrition bars or granola bars

I especially like the ones from Kind but I don't usually get to eat these because my husband takes them in the morning on his way to work! Double check the amount of sugar content in your nutrition bar though! Some aren't as healthy as they claim to be.

Beef jerky

This one is a favorite of my youngest son!

Bags of white popcorn

Okay, I can't remember what it's called because I haven't gone to the grocery store this week yet. But I love those bags of white popcorn and I'm pretty sure they're somewhat of a healthy option because my husband eats it without complaint - that's usually my test of how healthy something is!

Carrots

You knew I was going to throw in veggies, right? I grab the baby carrots or just the regular ones and put them in my kids' lunch or on their dinner plate if we are looking for a quick veggie for dinner.

But there have to be more than seven options out there. Got some ideas that I missed? Share them in the comments! And make sure to check out these tips I used to stop eating fast food!
